Chowmein- My Favorite Food
It was always much more than a necessity, I think many people will agree that food is one of the main sources of satisfaction. It is a door to cultural, a way through which I adventure myself into new tastes, and a daily reminder that life is beautiful. As much as I know the importance of a proper diet, I do not deny myself nice meals once in a while.
To me, nothing can give the happy feeling that a plate of steaming hot Chowmein give. It is originally from china, and it has become my favorite dish ever since, because taking each bite taste like I am having a party in my mouth.
Every time I am in a restaurant, chowmein is the first thing which I order. As for other noodles I like other types too but can’t say that they ever compare to the great Chowmein. It is perhaps the most comforting stir fried noodle dish I know and I must have ordered it perfect — stir fried noodles with an array of colourful vegetables and tender meat.
It’s just so delicious because the soy sauce and sesame oil marinate with the fresh veggies’ crisp and juiciness of the grilled chicken. Personally the Chowmein is not just any other dish but it is a movement.
Chowmein is one of the meals that I have great appreciation for and I prepare it at most times whenever I want to mark my day. Chowmein is a good times food for me; whether the times are the victory of getting through a particularly challenging day or getting up on the wrong side of bed or celebrating a small happiness in life or even the happiness that comes with the end of a stressful and tiring week.
That’s why I can take it any time of the day, whether in the morning, in the middle of the day or at night without getting bored. I believe every food enthusiast will surely find comfort in this dish and I can’t think of any celebration event where Chowmein will not be present.
Another qualifier that makes Chowmein special for me is not taste alone but how it triggers the senses. The moment one takes a sniff at the qty of noodles stir-fried with the soya sauces, one has the mouth watering even before the first tasteful moment. This crunchy fried chicken along with little bitter and sweet capsicum present a melodious taste in our mouth.
The brown spring onion and the light oil in sesame not only accentuates the delicious taste of the dish but it also enhances the fabulous aroma of the food in a much better way.
All thank to the power of chowmein,I have experienced so many other types of dishes including pizza, burgers and varieties of others but still it remains one of the most satisfying foods on the market. Not only that but this very food product is rather cheap and at the same time rich in nutrients. The vitamins are obtained from the vegetables, protein is obtained from the chicken and energy from the noodles. This is why I like Chowmein: it taste good but it is healthy too.
Celebrating Food in My Own Way
I prefer to take chowmein while at home relaxing with a cup of coffee, a laptop nearby and a palace to spit. To me this is heaven. Whether I am typing out a work email, constructing an article or just scrolling through Instagram, having a bowl of Chowmein makes everything ten times better. Not just the nourishment of my body but even the act of enjoying the food subtly to the point of feeling absolutely glad.
Like every other food, I am used to chewing it from restaurants but it is also interesting to prepare it at home. Making chowmein also reminds me more of being an artist where one forms chowmein in a way and with the ingredients one prefers. And I have tried this many times and fine tuned my recipe and it is such a joy to teach those who equally enjoys this delicious meal.
The Perfect Chowmein Recipe
Cooking Chowmein at home is surprisingly simple, and the end result is always rewarding. Here’s my detailed recipe for making the perfect Chowmein that’s bursting with flavor:
Ingredients
- 250 grams of egg noodles
- 150 grams of boneless chicken (cut into thin strips)
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 teaspoons soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons dark soy sauce
- 3 finely chopped spring onions
- 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
- 1 medium-sized capsicum (sliced)
- 2 medium-sized tomatoes (sliced)
Step-by-Step Instructions
Preparing the Noodles
Before that, you need to start by boiling 250 grams of egg noodles in a pot of boiling and salted water. Boil the noodles for approximately 5 minutes while they remain firmer, al dente. After the noodles have been cooked pour off the water and rinse with cold water to bring the cooking process to an end. This also aids in not having the noodles to clump together which is a major guide during the preparation. Set them aside.
Marinating the Chicken
In another bowl, marinate the chicken strips with soy sauce- 2 teaspoons, white pepper- ½ teaspoon and salt — a pinch. Allow the chicken to sit in the marinade for about 10–15minutes. This step also helps to flavour the meat and retain it wet and juicy as it cooks.
Stir-Frying the Vegetables
Position a wok or an even large frying pan on this heat and turn on the heat under it to medium heat a particular quantity of sesame oil about 1 tablespoon. When the oil is hot add the sliced capsicum, tomatoes. Cook the vegetables over medium high heat for 2–3 minutes or until some of the vegetables begin to slightly “sulphate”. These give the dish a nice crispness and sweetness of the capsicum and a sharpness of the tomatoes.
Cooking the Chicken
Scoot the vegetables to the side of the wok and put the marinated chicken to the other side of the wok. Sauté the chicken for about 4–5 minutes sometimes in between stirring ; when it is cooked through and slightly browned. After the chicken is cooked should be added to the vegetables.
Combining the Ingredients
Stir in the cooked noodles and about 2 tsp of dark soy sauce to the wok. Mix up the noodles well so that the sauce is applied to the pasta well and evenly too. This step is important to get the unique color and flavor of Chowmein.
Adding the Finishing Touches
Then garnish with the finely chopped spring onions and mix the noodles up properly for the last time. These contribute sweetness besides giving the dish an exciting touch of spring onions that has a mild onion taste.
Serving the Chowmein
Place the Chowmein on another plate and consume as it is hot. It goes well with your preferred dips or accompany the food with chili paste for an added measure of heat.
Why Chowmein Is Special
Chowmein refers to more than just a dish for me; it is actually a relish of flavours, textures, and memories. Whenever I look at it, I am brought back in times to times when we used to hang out with friends and family members, or even better when we sat together laughing and listening to most interesting stories while eating this tasty food. It is a special dish that always brings a smile on my face whoever the day has been.
One of my favorite things about Chowmein is that you can never get sick of it. You can vary it with different vegetables; use shrimp or tofu instead of chicken, or add a spiciness with chili oil. Regardless of what you do to it, Chowmein will never let you down as far as taste and fullness are concerned.
An Innovation That Completes Every Event
In conclusion, that is why Chowmein is not only my favorite food but I feel like I am a foodie. This is because it has its own natural taste, healthy for consumers and pocket friendly , so wherever and whenever I am, I can always prefer to take it. Whether it’s a birthday party, an engagement, or a romantic date; or just a movie night at home, Chowmein is easily accessible to help make the moment special.
If you have never attempted to make Chowmein at home then I strongly suggest that you give this recipe a try. But it’s easy, fun and rather rewarding to take some time to understand things and make them work to your advantage. And who knows? Or perhaps, you will simply and utterly hit the like button for this amazing dish that I have discovered.
